Millettia Pinnata is a superior species of Pongamia Pinnata (Recent research on Pongamia suggested its name should be changed to Millettia Pinnata). It is a “green oil” Biofuel producing tree that has a 10 metre taproot, thus creating a substantial carbon sink. The dense shade it provides slows the evaporation of surface water and its root structures promote nitrogen fixation, which moves nutrients from the air into the soil. Millettia Pinnatta easily surpasses the plantation oil yield of other oil crops such as Palm and Jatropha, with high oil content of 40-50%.  In addition, the rich seed cake remaining after pressing the seed can be utilised as organic fertiliser, high protein animal stock feed, or biomass for heat and power generation.

The Opportunity

8 Year Lease - with Annual Income (limited availability)

The Biofuel Plantation is situated in Cairns, North Queensland. Investors can buy leasehold plots of land of the following sizes: quarter, half and one hectares. The lease term for this project is 8 years. Plots come pre-planted with green oil producing Millettia Pinnata trees.

A quarter hectare is priced at £10,000, a half hectare £20,000 and a full hectare £40,000. You can buy multiples of the sizes available. The lease is fully registered in your name at the Australian land registry office for a one off registration fee of £550.00. The leaseholder has total freedom to do whatever he wishes with the leased plot. You are given the choice to enter into a tenancy agreement where you become the landlord and Green Oil Plantations the tenant. The landlord has the flexibility to give a 3 month’s notice to exit the tenancy. The lease purchase amount will be refunded to the landlord at the end of the tenancy term.

5 Year Lease - with Buy Back Contract

With the 5 Year Lease you can purchase lots of 463 trees (covering quarter hectare), 926 trees (covering half hectare) and 1,852 trees (covering one hectare). Each tree is worth £21.60 and Green Oil Plantations offers to buy them back from you at the end of year 5 for £38.88 each. This represents a total of 80% appreciation on the value of your trees.
